About the Course

    This beginner-friendly keyboard course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of playing the keyboard. Over 12 week structured lessons, you’ll explore keyboard basics, musical notations, beats, scales, chords, and more, while practicing with simple songs and poems. The course emphasises hands-on learning and gradual skill-building, making it perfect for aspiring keyboard players.

Course Content

    Week 1 - 3

    Introduces students to the keyboard layout, helping them identify keys and understand the difference between white and black keys. Teaches the concepts of natural, sharp, and flat notes, enabling students to recognize and play them on the keyboard. Explains the basics of staff notations, note placement, and note value, along with learning a simple poem.

    Week 4 - 6

    Focuses on understanding beats, tempo and metronome while practicing various metronome exercises set. Introduces the basics of major scales, emphasizing their role in building finger strength and musical foundation. Covers basic chords, their structures, and smooth playing techniques, paired with learning a second poem.

    Week 7 - 9

    Develops hand coordination through targeted exercises for playing with both hands seamlessly. Explores variations in beat and tempo, enabling students to play with rhythmic versatility. Guides students in playing arpeggios to enhance finger agility and fluency in broken chords while learning a third poem.

    Week 10 - 11

    Students to learn to play a song with a focus on melody and chords along with metronome along with revision and queries.

    Week 12

    Certification exam, recap, consolidation and guidance for further training.

Outcomes

    By the end of this course, students will learn to identify and navigate the keyboard layout, understand and apply basic musical notations, scales, chords, and perform simple melodies, poems, and songs. Students will also gain improved hand coordination, basics of rhythm and tempo, and the foundational knowledge needed to progress to the next levels of keyboard playing.
